Epoxy is a two component product consisting of epoxy resin and co-reactant or polyamine hardener applied over a concrete floor. The resin is light, clear and almost odor free while the hardener is dark with a slight odor. This coating mixture provides a hard, durable surface that seals the concrete, making it resistant to water, staining, abrasion, oils and chemicals. The end result is a mirror-like high gloss finish. The water and oil will bead with the end result of an easy clean up.
Applying this coating will hide imperfections in the concrete and with other additives and provide anti-slip. Epoxy with grit added helps with floor grip and consists of small micro polymer beads that will create very small bumps when mixed with the top coating of your floor. Before the epoxy can be applied, the concrete floor must be clean and repairs must be done on all large cracks. Once the epoxy is applied, your end result is a durable and easy to clean finish with little or no maintenance. This flooring is used in high traffic areas in commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities (due to the resistance to chemicals) and residential garages.
